COOKIE will have wide appeal as a very well written book that will delight children as well as please parents or extended family members who share this cute story with youngsters. The story is that of a little girl called ‘Cookie’ because that is all she will eat, a child who despite admonition turns into a cookie with all the crumbles and nibbles that follow until she mends her ways and learns to eat properly is well outlined in the material provided on the back of the book. But the pleasure of reading this book and taking advantage of its healthy message is the manner in which Lisa Woomer writes. Her style is straight forward but with a tinge of elegance that makes reading the story aloud almost tuneful. Apparently illustrated by the author, the drawings retain a ‘I can draw like that’ flavor that will make the book even more personal to the lucky children who are given this happy volume.
